FAQs

What is the mission of The Women's Fund?

The mission of The Women's Fund is to create opportunities for economic, educational and personal growth for women of all ages and to encourage advancement and full participation in the community.

Why is The Women's Fund Important?

According to a report published by The Women's Funding Network, women comprise 70% of those living in absolute poverty worldwide.

The lack of food, health care, and stimulating environment lowers children's ability to learn for their lifetime.

Children from poor families are two times as likely to repeat a grade, two times more likely to drop out of school, and half as likely to earn a college degree.

The Women's Fund sustains programs that help women overcome poverty by promoting education, employment opportunities, and wellness, providing women with the skills and resources to help themselves.

When you support The Women's Fund you provide intervention for women and children living in poverty, services for battered women and children, programs that encourage young girls to pursue their educational goals and remain in school, and support for girls struggling with of lack of economic opportunities.

All monies stay locally and serve women and girls in Herkimer and Oneida Counties.

How Much Money has The Women's Fund Awarded in Grants?

Since The Women's Fund began granting funds in 1999, we have provided $325,000 in program grants to provide opportunities for women and girls to achieve independence and success in life, $165,000 to hundreds of women through Annie's Fund, and $4,200 from Isla's Fund in partnership with Mohawk Valley Community College. Additional partner colleges in our area will soon be added.
