(New Hartford, New York) Baird, an employee-owned, international wealth management firm with local offices in New Hartford, New York, is helping to make a difference in the local community by joining forces with The Women’s Fund of Herkimer and Oneida Counties and supporting the funding for five, $5,000 grants to women-owned businesses. Another partner in the initiative is the Griffiss Institute.

“Baird is doing one of the things it does best, giving back to our community and helping to make a positive difference for the women in our area,” noted Theresa Flemma, CFP and Managing Director at Baird in New Hartford, New York. “Giving back is at the core of what it means to be a good community member. I know how challenging it can be to own and operate a successful business. Women entrepreneurs are changing the landscape in our area and we are excited to be a part of this grant initiative.”

The Women’s Fund launched the $5,000 grant program in late August and the deadline for applications is Friday, September 30, 2022. The organization and its partners are offering five $5,000 grants to women in business in Herkimer and Oneida Counties. The inspiration behind the grants was an extension of the Women’s Fund organization celebrating its 25th year of supporting women in the community. The recipients will be announced in early November.

“We are excited to have Baird as part of our team with this initiative,” said Denise Filhan, Women’s Fund Board Member and co-owner of Daughter-for-Hire in Clinton, New York. “My business partner and I know the challenges facing women-owned businesses. It is meaningful for me to be on the board of The Women’s Fund and be able to offer support to other women on a local level.”

For more than 25 years The Women’s Fund has created economic, educational, and personal growth opportunities for women and girls to encourage their advancement and full participation in their communities. The Women’s Fund is a not-for-profit that provides local support through the funds received by individuals, organizations and businesses.
