$5,000 Grants Available to Women-Owned Businesses in Herkimer and Oneida Counties

(Utica, New York) The Women’s Fund of Herkimer and Oneida Counties in cooperation with Baird Private Wealth Management and the Griffiss Institute are sponsoring five $5,000 grants for a total of $25,000 to women in business in Herkimer and Oneida Counties. The businesses must be at least 51 percent women-owned and have been in existence for one year or more. The deadline for applying is Wednesday, September 30, 2026. The application is available at womensfundhoc.org.
The Women’s Fund began the initiative five years ago and has invested nearly $100,000 for women-owned businesses in Oneida and Herkimer Counties.
“Supporting women-owned businesses in our area is a welcome addition to the work of The Women’s Fund,” commented Ellen Rainey, vice president of the WF Board of Directors and the committee chair for the grants. “Every year we receive a wide variety of applicants who are making a difference in the lives of women throughout the area. We have more applicants than we have grants and encourage those who have applied in the past to apply again. Our recipients are connecting with one another as well as supporting and helping each other grow.”
Baird Private Wealth Management with offices in New Hartford, New York is a major contributor to the grant initiative. Baird has been a supporter since the grant initiative began, showing their ongoing commitment to changing the lives of women in the area. Griffiss Institute is also a partner and continues to be involved and committed to the mission of The Women’s Fund.
The grant application is open to women-owned businesses in Herkimer and Oneida Counties and can be found here. The application deadline is Wednesday, September 30, 2026. There are five $5,000 grants available which will be awarded in November 2026. Funds may be used for equipment, hardware/software, consulting services, training, education and marketing.
